Trademark registration can be performed on a national level or on a state level. National trademark registration can provide the owner of the trademark with the exclusive right to use the mark in association with a particular good or service throughout the United States. A successful national trademark registration can provide important legal protection to the trademark owner if their mark is ever infringed upon by another.
In Florida, a trademark can be registered with the state. State registration provides many of the same protections as national registration, however the benefit of registration is available to the trademark owner only in the state of Florida. Also, state registration may be available for some marks that cannot be federally registered.
